Our group is composed of people with backgrounds in physical chemistry, physics and engineering. We perform combined experimental and theoretical studies of spatio-temporal dynamics resulting from chemical reactions coupled to transport processes (diffusion, convection) or phase transitions. We study how chemical reactions can initiate, influence and optimize these transport processes. Our goal is to develop a general characterization of pattern formation in non equilibrium systems. The applications range from material science and fluid mixing to CO2 sequestration, among others.
